Why Make Only One Issue?

A one-shot can do something a regular fanzine cannot. It can be fast, topical, playful, or intensely specific. It does not need a publishing schedule or a long-term identity.

One-Shots and Fan Culture

The form suits fandom’s improvisational side. Someone has an idea, a duplicator, a deadline, and enough friends to make the issue worth mailing or handing out.
