Physical Preservation First
Store fanzines flat or upright in clean, dry, stable conditions. Avoid damp, heat, direct sunlight, and pressure that damages bindings or staples. If an item is fragile, do not force it flat for a scan.
Scanning and Metadata
Record title, issue number, date, editor, contributors, page count, source collection, and any notes about missing pages. A beautiful scan without metadata is much harder to use later.
Digital Care
